Job Description

Enthusiastic childcare professional responsible for the day to day management of a large Baby or Toddler room; with the desire and ability to deliver top quality childcare.

Deputise for the Nursery Manager and assist/gain experience in the running of a large professional setting. Working alongside the Nursery Manager; to help us ensure our nursery provides the best possible standards of care and education.

Ensuring our environment is safe and secure, where the children are valued as individuals through a loving and child centred approach in all aspects of the way the nursery is run.

Ensuring that the children have access to good learning opportunities throughout their time at the nursery; providing learning activities which are educational, stimulating and fun.

To deliver childcare in a way that meets parents’/carers’ needs and works in partnership with them providing high levels of customer care at all times.

Assisting in the day to day general management (“good housekeeping”) of the nursery; ensuring our Policies & Procedures are met alongside the EYFS and associated statutory guidelines and good practice.

All with appropriate guidance and assistance from the Management team.

Qualifications, training and experience required:

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a similar role based in a formal childcare setting, or the desire and ability to progress from Nursery Practitioner to Room Leader/Deputy.
  • Sound EYFS knowledge and experience.
  • Working knowledge of OFSTED standards.
  • Ability to work well in partnership with parents/agencies.
  • An ability to organise own work and use initiative.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • People management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a staff team, and organise the team’s work and assume responsibility for same.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities.

Job Description

Formal Level 2 or Level 3 Apprenticeship programme with on the job training.

As someone passionate and enthusiastic about beginning (or progressing) their career in child care, you will work alongside qualified Childcare Practitioners, supporting the care and development of children aged 0 to 5.

You should be eager to learn and (with experience) gain more responsibility throughout this apprenticeship; aiming to progress through to becoming a qualified Nursery Practitioner (and potentially through to Room Leader and beyond in the future).

A good work ethic is required and the ability to communicate effectively with the people around you, including children, parents and other staff.

Your Responsibilities and Duties will see you assisting with:
